Located on a private island in the harsh yet sublime setting of Georgian Bay, a lone cottage built up over decades is to receive new life inspired by the families' history on the island.

Much of the existing structure will be stripped back. New living "volumes" will be added, each responding to and directing views, each with their own uniquely cladded exteriors.

The bass island volume will retain the existing living room; the beacon volume will contain a new expanded kitchen and dining spaces with large views to the lake; the rock volume will contain the private master bedroom.

Childhood fantasies of rock formations that grew into stories of an age-old island dinosaur will be reflected in each volumes "scaley" wood siding firmly rooting the cottage with it's own personal story.
